The qathet Museum & Archives (qMAS) plays a valuable role in preserving the cultural, historical, and documentary heritage of qathet Regional District — from Desolation Sound to the Jervis Inlet, including Harwood, Hernando, Savary, and Texada islands. The Museum keeps and cares for objects and artifacts. And the archives preserves written, visual, and oral records of qathet Regional District’s history.

The qMAS is a non-profit society. We rely on funding from governments, donors, sponsors, and the kindness of our volunteers to help run our museums and events.

Volunteers of the qMAS inspire and educate the community about the history of the qathet Regional District. We are passionate about our local history, and we hope you will share this passion with us.

There are exciting and fun opportunities to volunteer at the qMAS throughout the year.

Students can earn their volunteer hours for school. If you are interested in a special project or research topic that might be of value to the qMAS, submit a proposal with the volunteer application. The qMAS Collections Manager will approve all projects.

Volunteers at the qMAS will:
  • experience wonderful and enriching opportunities
  • be fulfilled with a great sense of achievement and personal growth
  • be involved in a variety of tasks and projects
  • learn about the rich local history

If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, please fill out a volunteer application form. Download and print the form and bring it to the museum. Or submit the form online.
