Wooden Casting Pattern
Object ID: 1995.128 a to d.4029
This wooden pattern was used by the Powell River Company in the 1920s and possibly before.
Because Powell River was so isolated, the mill had to make its own parts for machine repairs and installations. In the Pattern Shop, a wooden replica of the part, or a pattern (such as this one), would be made. The pattern would be used to make a cavity or mould, which was then filled with molten metal to create the final part. This casting was done in the Foundry.
